Products bought last year

This is a bit of confusing, hopefully you can help.


In December 2019, I bought products from supplier. Some of these products got sold in December and there are more remaining this year. But due to delay in invoice, I paid for these in January 2020.


How do I take this in accounting please?, do i still register the whole payment this year?

Does is effect the year calcaluations?

You must register the entire payment in 2020, since the amount is out of the bank in 2020


You register your purchase as follows in 2020:
Credit 1920 Bank deposits
Debit 1749 Other prepaid costs


Then you add a manuscript voucher like this in 2019;
Credit 1749 Other prepaid costs
Debet 4xxx Purchasing Account
