Improved performance in the Visma.net ERP API

by Thomas Skjørten (Updated ‎02-02-2021 13:20 by Yıldırım VISMA )

One of the benefits of moving the Visma.net ERP application to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July was that we would then be able to more easily tune and scale the environment to adapt to the needs of your integrations. During the last few weeks we've started utilizing these capabilities and we are starting to see good results with regards to performance of the API.

For the last year we've had in place a monitoring environment that acts as an external integration and runs test-packages consisting of groups of calls to the API endpoints from servers spread around Europe. The packages are run 20 times every hour, and gives us important information about how the API is performing for you as an integrator.

Since moving to AWS we've been able to make rapid changes to our production-enviroment working to tune it against better performance for the API-endpoints. In the beginning of last week we made some significant changes and during the week we've been closely monitoring the performance in our monitoring-tools.

We are happy to report that average performance of our tests have increased by 30% as compared to the average before the AWS-move, this means that an API-call that took 1,3 seconds before the change, now is completed in under 1 second. Hopefully this will have a good effect on your integrations.

We will of course continue this effort and keep improving the performance and stability of the API.
