Salesorder API fields origOrderNbr and origOrderType

When doing a POST to SalesOrder, can the fields origOrderNbr and origOrderType be used freely, or are there any logic / business rules tied to those fields?

It seems like "origOrderType" is limited to two characters, apart from that, there should not be any particular logic on our end.
